The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a constitutional body in India that is responsible for conducting various prestigious examinations for recruitment to the civil services and other posts within the Indian government. It was established on 1st October 1926 and is headquartered in New Delhi.
The primary function of the UPSC is to conduct examinations and interviews to select candidates for various services and posts in the central government, such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central civil services.
The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination (CSE), which is one of the most competitive examinations in India. The CSE is conducted in three stages: the Preliminary Examination (Objective Type), the Main Examination (Written), and the Personality Test (Interview). Successful candidates are recruited into various civil services based on their ranks and preferences.
